Seminar – Anima and Animus: Modern Perspectives on the Contrasexual Complex

Presented by the University of Toronto Jungian Society
Tuesday, March 19, 2019
6 pm – 8 pm
New College, Wetmore Hall Rm 52
University of Toronto

In this seminar…

We will explore how the contrasexual complex functions broadly either to bring increased agency (animus) and communion (anima) to the total personality. Can women have same gender figures seeking communion (anima)? Can men have same gender figures moving for more agency in the personality (animus)? And we will consider whether agency and communion are expressed in similar or different ways in cis and in trans people.

We will look at dreams where principles of agency and communion are expressed in the guise of myriad genders and attitudes.
